Beneath most conflict is hurt that has not been understood.
ADHD-aware support for couples where ADHD affects communication or connection.
Is this where you are?
You may still care deeply about one another while feeling unable to reach each other in the moments that matter—or unsure what the future of the relationship should be.
How therapy works
At the core of conflict is often a longing to be seen, understood and deeply loved. When that longing feels threatened, couples can attack, withdraw or shut down.
I slow down the emotional intensity so both of you can speak and be heard. Neither partner is treated as the problem.
Together, we make the cycle beneath the arguments visible—including the hurt, expectations and different inner worlds shaping it.
I combine warmth with clarity. Once the pattern is understood, difficult conversations can become more honest and change becomes possible.
ADHD and relationships
ADHD can affect communication, emotional reactions and day-to-day life in ways that are hard for both partners to understand.
I work with couples where one or both partners have ADHD, helping you make sense of what happens between you without making either person the problem.
Your first meeting
A 60-minute, in-person session at my Bealey Ave practice in Central Christchurch.
My first priority is to slow things down. Both of you will have space to be heard without interruption or blame, and we will begin to understand the deeper story beneath the argument.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say, equally certain about therapy, or agreed on what the outcome should be. Therapy cannot guarantee an outcome, but it can create the clarity, honesty and understanding needed for a meaningful decision.
